Why is it Only God's Wealth That Adds Joy and Not Sorrow?
Why is it Only God's Wealth That Adds Joy and Not Sorrow?
Wealth, in its essence, serves the purpose of furthering God's essence, acting as a vehicle to do so. God's essence is diverse; He resides in a beautiful city with streets made of gold, symbolizing wealth.
Down to Earth
In the earthly realm, wealth is the natural order of life. In the Garden of Eden, Adam had access to everything created for his use. However, after his departure from God's way of doing things to the human way, that access was restricted, and mankind has been seeking ways to regain it.
Wealth
Managing wealth requires a lot of effort from a human perspective, involving sweat and toil. Acquiring wealth, however, demands more than human effort; it requires significant qualities from a person, including aspects of their physicality and soul. When God empowers someone to acquire wealth, He equips them spiritually to obtain it without sacrifices beyond their capability. For example, Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Isaac and Samson's strength to get honey from a lion both required significant divine empowerment.
Money
Money and gold are physical measures of wealth and prosperity. God doesn’t shower money from the heavens, but He bestows wealth in a way that allows a person to trade successfully and prosper. The ways to acquiring wealth are evident to those enlightened to them. Other gods also know the path to wealth, which is why many seek wealth through them.
How Humans Play Themselves
God gives wealth and the power to acquire it. Nothing valuable comes cheap, and the joy of God's gifts lies in the lack of need for kickbacks (tithes are not kickbacks since they are only accepted when given cheerfully). God doesn’t take back His gifts, so the recipient lives without fear of loss. Even if God doesn't give measurable wealth, contentment with one's resources is itself wealth.
Other Sources
The downside of seeking wealth from other sources is that, after paying the initial price, continuous payment is required. This double payment brings fears, threats, and sorrows, unlike God's wealth, which comes with joy. Wealth from other sources rarely stands the test of time, as the source itself is often a bad investment. Conversely, wealth from God lasts as long as the earth remains.
Wealth Transfers
Why does wealth sometimes transfer away? With God's wealth, once the initial price is paid, that’s it. For other sources, continuous repayment is necessary. Transfers occur when an outsider understands this and pays the price.
In Our World Today
The desire for new cars and houses, and the willingness to do anything to obtain them, drives people to sacrifice aspects of themselves they don't value. Interestingly, God blesses us with what we have, while the gods of wealth take what we have to give us what we want, making it a transaction rather than a blessing. This has always been the case and will continue to be so. Wealth is a means to achieve purposes, and those who receive it are ready to use it accordingly.
The blessing of life itself allows us to enjoy what we have to the fullest, rather than chasing what is beyond us to the detriment of our well-being.
