  Cowardice, Recklessness and Courage : Getting out of the comfort zone. Cowardice is despised, recklessness is unwise, courage is the perfect choice. Attaining courage from a point of cowardice requires purposeful reckless acts, you are already used to a comfort zone in cowardice, getting out of that comfort zone is reckless.  If you were fearful, overcoming fear is reckless, if you were poor, overcoming poverty is reckless. Getting accustomed to, and building a comfort zone around recklessness counterbalances the comfort around cowardice, achieving this has already made you courageous.  Your brain builds new neural circuits as you act engage in purposeful acts of recklessness.  In life, cowardice keeps you from what you want, recklessness keeps you stranded because your devil-may--care actions makes you foolhardy, oftentimes recklessness makes you forget why you wanted it in the first place.  Only courage gets you what you want.  Attaining courage from a ...

  A Saucy Road trip.  One of the reasons why many things are left unattended to in a system, is probably the level of internal complicity in that system.  I'm looking out for some new opportunities, so I set out to get by certificates from Akure.   Competition and the competitive feel.  This is one of the feels life offers. . Competition is competition - healthy or unhealthy because there is really no set gauge to measure how healthy or unhealthy it is. We can only try tho' The higher one goes, the higher the level of competition. In the primary school, the competition is lower as there are enough secondaries to go around, although smarter students don't look at that but focus on mastering the primary school curriculum and it helps solidify their success when admitted into the secondary schools. In the secondary school, the competition is more intense, there are more challenges, more people from different spectra of the society are in the same school - the cool, the thugs, the gentle, the stubborn, the dull, the smart, the clowns, the bullies, the serious ones.  On sighting the result of my MTH 101 test when I was running my undergraduate program at OAU, I was stunned. I got an 85A. With the level of preparation I put into the exam, I expected to be in the 90th percentile with at least a 90%+ mark.  What really happened?  Any doubts over marking inconsistencies were dispelled when I saw my engineering colleagues get marks in the top 90th percentile—91A and 96A. This was a question that baffled me personally, and I decided I had to find an answer.    If I prepared well and still failed to hit my goal, was it because I didn't study well or was it just that I wasn't good enough to chill with the big boys whose points were in the top 90th percentile?   Cowbellpedia: Celebration of Math Champions.  Cowbellpedia, the numero uno educational tv show targeted at secondary school youngsters to bring together mathematical talents all over Nigeria. Secondary schools all over the country amounting to tens of thousands register for this elite math competition and sit for written tests that decide who gets to the live shows.  Only 108 students in total end up at the live shows that consist of preliminary rounds, semifinal rounds and the final round.  Highly competitive, eye-catching and interesting, the show is a progressive one.Mathematics is perhaps a puzzle and seeing students who demystify this puzzle is wondrous.  In the live shows, 108 students take part in the preliminary rounds where they take turns answering the questions thrown at them within a 5-second bracket, understanding, speed and precision is key.  Only 18 students get to the semifinal rounds and the best six ends up in the finals.  In the li...
