May Musings.
On Riches.
Riches is being able to live whatever life you want to live at any point in time, and equally having the ability and the means to achieve this end.
The richest men have the ability to afford all they want to achieve or they have the ability to be content with whatever life has dealt them. In our contemporary times, the richest are those who have the most in material possessions, In realistic terms, the most content person is the richest.
Being rich is a mindset, the content have gotten to a point where they realise that the life they desire, they live already.
The content are self-aware, in that, the desires of others aren't theirs. They've realised that what makes one happy differs from what makes another happy.
In all, living whatever life you want to live and having the means to do so is synonymous to being rich.
True riches is realising our oneness with the universe ; everything in the universe is inside every one of us, therefore we don't need to desire what is already one with us, this is the state of contentment.
On the prime desires of men : defining success.
Order is the first rule in heaven, this means that all things have their place and are in their place. In fact, the antidote to all strife is order which is built on authority.
The reasons why people strife is because a clear-cut distinction hasn't been established among them, the moment one realizes his authority in relation to whoever he/she strives with, the strife ends. Middle-weights don't strive with heavyweights.
When word got out that a special king was to be born in ancient Jerusalem, the same king whose coming had been prophesied by the prophets aforetime, the ruler on the throne(K. Herod) sent out an order to eliminate the special king before he was born, the king survived.
As confirmed by the men from the east who told K. Herod, the expected king was not an ordinary one but a shining star.
This news didn't just catch the interest of mortals but of spiritual princes because no one really knew who this king was.
When this king grew well enough and set himself aside for some days, a prince of the world at the time named Satan came to try him to know who he truly was.
Satan knew himself and his ranking, he had gone through series of tests on the earth himself and prevailed, he knew what appealed to men and he also knew what appealed to kings. Whatever he did to anyone, he had gone through it.
So, he gave tests to this king, the tests are the three prime desires of men.
1. He asked the king to transform stones to bread: he appealed to the primal nature of man ; hunger.
All princes above a particular spiritual realm can transform stones to bread. But Jesus being a Prince himself knew that Satan was just trying to know who he really was and the extent of his power. Jesus did do many miracles like turning water into wine and multiplying bread, but he didn't turn stones to bread.
Apparently he wasn't going to gift Satan his desire.
2. He asked the king to see the whole world and its glory, then bow to him. If he did bow to him, he would give the king the world. He appealed to man's second desire : power, control and domination.
Even Satan wasn't sure of who this king was, so he wanted to be sure if he was indeed as great as the prophets had prophesied about him, and what way to affirm or disaffirm that greatness than to see if the idea of having the world to himself would appeal to him or not.
The king got the point and did not bow, still he exhibited power, control and dominion over the world throughout his reign.
3. Satan took the king to the top of the tabernacle and asked him to jump down, and claimed the angels would keep him from falling.
He appealed to man's final desire : spiritual help.
The king didn't also allow Satan to win even if he quoted God's word. His resistance wasn't borne out of inability, afterall he did far impressive stunts like walking on the sea without sinking. He saw through Satan's intents and prevailed over them. Satan then left him and kept on re-appearing to him through humans till the king finished his purpose and ascended.
Till today, Satan never knows the extent of the king's power simply because the king is of an higher hierarchy. However, he still strives with many today and until a clear order based on authority is established, the strife will continue.
Man's desires are three-fold:
Desire to have his hunger and thirst quenched, the desire to control and dominate his world and the desire to remain strong spiritually so when he encounters challenges, the angels will be there to bear him up.
Therefore a successful life would be a life where
One is dominating his world, one is prosperous enough to have his hunger and thirst quenched and one is spiritually viable enough to withstand all that may come to one's life.
*king/the king when not specified = K. Jesus.
