How I feel right now

Real Life experiences and the need for social approval. The only ones who do not seek social approval are those who have it. The same goes for attention, power, wealth, and knowledge. In Solomon’s book of Proverbs, I encountered the light about a man through desire separating himself to seek and intermeddle with all wisdom and it struck a chord with me.   Emotional life: The earlier years of my emotional life were fraught with negative emotions that I have come to identify with relationships, although I now understand why this was so – my own emotional life wasn’t the best and this reflected in my actions and attracted all the things that I didn’t want in my relationships. I feel relationships – the deep ones – make life better (I don’t feel this, or else I’d have been in a relationship..duh but I have the head knowledge). Women are just going to externalize all their feelings and if you have something in your feelings that you’re secretive about, you’d better steer cl...

Thoughts in 2023.

Image
It's 2023. Writing gives me this higher perspective, I mean I get to see my life from a bird's eye perspective.  In 2022, I was actively engaged in service to my country Nigeria and also got a job at a multinational organisation that specialises in professional financial services. The good thing about 2022 was that I got to grow and learn new things that really took me to another level. I've always thought that reality is sweet once one overcomes the obstacles within that makes reality dour and dull. Thing is, overcoming these obstacles is  hard and beyond a point, I think it is humanly impossible to overcome man-made obstacles but spiritually possible to do so. why? see, people will offend you and get on your toes, if you're not like spiritually grounded, you will fight back and fighting back will culminates in setbacks.  Patience is hard and impossible to attain if you don't live in the moment, living in the past or projecting some fantasies into the future furth...

Cowardice, Recklessness and Courage : Getting out of the comfort zone

Image
Cowardice, Recklessness and Courage : Getting out of the comfort zone. Cowardice is despised, recklessness is unwise, courage is the perfect choice. Attaining courage from a point of cowardice requires purposeful reckless acts, you are already used to a comfort zone in cowardice, getting out of that comfort zone is reckless.  If you were fearful, overcoming fear is reckless, if you were poor, overcoming poverty is reckless. Getting accustomed to, and building a comfort zone around recklessness counterbalances the comfort around cowardice, achieving this has already made you courageous.  Your brain builds new neural circuits as you act engage in purposeful acts of recklessness.  In life, cowardice keeps you from what you want, recklessness keeps you stranded because your devil-may--care actions makes you foolhardy, oftentimes recklessness makes you forget why you wanted it in the first place.  Only courage gets you what you want.  Attaining courage from a ...

A Saucy Road trip

Image
A Saucy Road trip.  One of the reasons why many things are left unattended to in a system, is probably the level of internal complicity in that system.  I'm looking out for some new opportunities, so I set out to get by certificates from Akure. I got to Iwo park early in the morning, so I could get back to Ibadan the exact same day. I never knew I was in for some unexpected moments.  The first bus I met on ground was almost full but on sighting the bus, I lost faith in it but gained humor - for anyone who is accustomed to these commercial buses ; as long as these buses have four circular wheels called tires, a battery, a fuel tank, brakes and some set of wires that can start the engine, they are good to go - the rest is OYO (on your own), the tires of this bus was almost worn out, the chairs were tilted at an angle so whoever seats on either edge is either closer to the bus base or his/her head is close to the roof implying that, if the bus runs into potholes, whoe...

Competition and the competitive feel

Image
Competition and the competitive feel.  This is one of the feels life offers. . Competition is competition - healthy or unhealthy because there is really no set gauge to measure how healthy or unhealthy it is. We can only try tho' The higher one goes, the higher the level of competition. In the primary school, the competition is lower as there are enough secondaries to go around, although smarter students don't look at that but focus on mastering the primary school curriculum and it helps solidify their success when admitted into the secondary schools. In the secondary school, the competition is more intense, there are more challenges, more people from different spectra of the society are in the same school - the cool, the thugs, the gentle, the stubborn, the dull, the smart, the clowns, the bullies, the serious ones. To be a champion requires being on top of a lot of feels, overcoming the taunts of scorners, the jibes of the losers and the annoyances of the bullies. Studying...

No child is a dullard

On sighting the result of my MTH 101 test when I was running my undergraduate program at OAU, I was stunned. I got an 85A. With the level of preparation I put into the exam, I expected to be in the 90th percentile with at least a 90%+ mark.  What really happened?  Any doubts over marking inconsistencies were dispelled when I saw my engineering colleagues get marks in the top 90th percentile—91A and 96A. This was a question that baffled me personally, and I decided I had to find an answer.    If I prepared well and still failed to hit my goal, was it because I didn't study well or was it just that I wasn't good enough to chill with the big boys whose points were in the top 90th percentile? On prodding further, I discovered that my mood and way of going about things in the exam hall played a huge role. I discovered that how I felt impacted my overall performance in the exam. On sighting the question, I saw that I knew all of it and got so excited that I jum...

How mobile phones revolutionized my life

Image
How my interests in mobile phones revolutionized my life. In 1997 when I was born, the computer age was already gaining huge grounds all over the world exponentially. As I grew, I internalized this growth and was fascinated by technology as a whole. I remember playing with my big brothers as a kid, they had this toy bus that drove itself ; I was amazed at this, I also remember playing this video game on the TV where you could shoot birds with a toy gun in your hands ; super fascinating to me. I continued my life and started to understand the real world around me, for one I rarely understood the cultural traditions of the day. Till today, as much as I respect everybody..concepts like prostrating to greet people was strange to me..Initially, they were misinterpreted by people to mean disrespect but this wasn't the case. I'm a 100% modern guy, there is nothing traditional about me. I understand how the world works but because I'm primarily a yoruba boy, one would think I woul...
